‘Fishing with the Vita X’ Mark’s blog

Hi Everyone,

I’m just back from a day session fishing at Wold Farm Fisheries and Shooting in Bedfordshire.

We decided to fish the Oaks Lake and the weather was perfect. My friend David picked me up as the Vita X fits nicely in his van with all our gear and I take my trailer to carry all the kit to our swims. It was busy when we arrived with a dozen cars in front of us waiting for the gates to open and several arriving behind us to join the queue. Booking in advance guarantees a peg on your chosen lake so we weren’t bothered by the queue. The day was warm but overcast as we unloaded the gear onto the trailer behind my Vita and you could see the fish moving around on the lake which was a good sign.

We quickly selected our pegs and set up then it off to the Chuck wagon for a bacon roll and a mug of tea. When the weather is right, why rush? It’s as much these days about the company as it is the fishing. We fish as a group of four and this time my Dad and Dave’s son were with us. Dax, the owner was keen to chat with us and inform us of future plans to add disabled toilets to the fishery and extend the tackle shop. Currently, he has disabled toilets on the shooting range so it’s fully inclusive and all of the lakes have flat accessible pegs.

Once we finished our tea and rolls, we were soon fishing and all landed fish almost immediately. They came steady all day long with species including Barbel, Bream and many Carp. In fact, we had well over 100 fish between us averaging between 3 and 5lb but also some doubles up to 16lb.

The weather stayed good all day. The fish and wildlife kept us entertained all day and as we packed up at 5:30pm we were all shattered. I couldn’t fish without these guys as they load my gear, net my fish, weigh them and put them back. I feel privileged to have such good friends and family and my Vita X means I can continue doing what I love best.
